NQA-1 Checklist: The 18 Requirements

ASME NQA-1 Part I defines eighteen basic requirements for a nuclear quality-assurance program, mapping closely to the eighteen criteria of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B. Use this interactive checklist to work through each requirement, mark where your program stands, capture notes, and export a readiness report. For the full explainer, see NQA-1 Explained. Note: This tool is an orientation and self-assessment aid, not a compliance determination. A formal NQA-1 program is verified through audits by a customer, a joint audit body (such as NUPIC), or a qualified third party. Descriptions below are plain-language summaries of the standard's intent.

How to use this checklist
  1. Rate each requirement. For all 18 requirements, choose the state that best describes your program:
Compliant — fully addressed with evidence Partial — in place but with gaps Gap — not addressed yet
  2. Add notes. Once you rate a requirement, a notes box opens — use it to record evidence, the specific gap, or an action item.
  3. Watch your readiness score. The score at the top updates automatically. Compliant counts fully, Partial counts half, so it reflects real coverage rather than a simple checkbox count.
  4. Export your report. Click Export report (PDF) to open a print-ready summary of your ratings and notes — save it as a PDF or print it for your team or auditor prep.
  5. Your progress saves automatically in this browser, so you can return and pick up where you left off. Use Reset to start over.

Not sure what a requirement means? Each item includes a plain-language summary and a “what auditors look for” cue. For deeper detail, see NQA-1 Explained.
